About the artists
CLARKSON JONES
Clarkson Jones likens his role as painter as that of a “channel;” using his paintings to invite the observer to engage each work and experience the scene as an “individualized expression of the life source underneath the symbolized form.” This approach to the canvas celebrates the aesthetic beauty of the scene and while recognizes the undercurrent of symbolism in every element of his dynamic compositions.
Over the past decade, Clarkson has traveled the world extensively; allowing him to experience other cultures first-hand. His journey as an artist has coincided with a spiritual one in which he has explored personal reflection and meditation. This introspection has awakened a surge of creativity and an intuitive approach to the canvas. Striving to achieve a unity with the energy of a place creates a “controlled chaos,” beginning in the earliest process stage of each painting. Through his art, Clarkson seeks to capture his perceptions of those things in life which inspire him most: painting, music and nature. An avid outdoorsman, sailor and plein air painter, nature is a recurring theme in his paintings.
Clarkson Jones has studied privately with Andy Braitman and Harris Holt. He has travelled throughout the United States and in Europe to attend workshops with other plein air masters.
